There are two wayss for obtaining your authorization to enter in Gabon:
visa application at an embassy and online visa application.
Visa application at
the Embassy
Visitors to Gabon can apply for a visa directly at the consular service of the Gabonese embassy in their own country. They should have available all requested documents (usually a letter of invitation and a certificate of accommodation provided by the host in Gabon) and submit the application within the stated deadlines and complying with the regulatory requirements.
However, this procedure can be cumbersome. Indeed, the embassy usually demands to see the original documents. This means that the applicant must allow for the postage of the original documents (mainly the invitation letter) by the host institution beforehand, generating moreover additional costs.
Online Visa application
By visiting the website of the Directorate-General of Documentation and Immigration (DGDI), any traveller can obtain an entry authorization online, generally within a period varying from 3 to 5 working days: https://www.dgdi.ga/e-visa/
After completing the form, the applicant will have to provide all requested documents such as the letter of invitation and the certificate of accommodation, if any, by uploading them as electronic files into the system. This procedure greatly simplifies the process and allows, in certain cases, to reduce the waiting time.
